Employee Engagement

The foundation of any sustainability plan
is your employees.
To achieve the best return on your sustainability investment, your corporate vision needs to speak to employees on both a strategic and a personal level. Having an overall sustainability plan in place will get you rolling in the direction of your goals. But how do you get your greatest asset – your employees – to rally around the vision of that plan and realize its full potential? This is a crucial area that we focus on. When you make your employees feel part of something bigger, they'll put more effort into everything they do. It's about inspiring employees in their daily lives, while at the same time mobilizing them toward your business objectives. When done right, you strike a chord that resonates throughout your organization. The result is that employees are energized and everyone works toward a common goal.
Leading businesses are embracing sustainability as a core business strategy.
In doing so, they are discovering significant benefits from employee motivation, retention and productivity to attracting new talent.
These are some of the benefits that your business can experience with employee engagement:
Enhances brand image
- By creating a workplace environment that highlights sustainable values and behaviours, businesses are achieving competitive advantages through a variety of avenues.
Attracts innovative new talent
- Enhanced brand image is one of the most significant benefits that is helping attract talented and innovative new staff members to forward-thinking businesses.
Increases employee satisfaction and retention
- Depending on the number of employees in your organization, reducing turnover could save millions of dollars. For example, MIT Sloan Management estimates that each staff turnover costs a company up to 150 percent of the employee's remuneration package.
Encourages innovation in cost cutting
- A long-term plan that highlights the advantages of energy efficiency, water conservation, healthy eating and sustainable transportation, among other 'eco-ideals', can reduce resource use across the company, generating substantial return on investment.
Helps the environment
- Sustainability resonates with people and inspires change. Employees care about the environment and want a sense of social purpose.

Discovery
During this discovery phase, we uncover what a successful strategy looks like for your organization.
We get to the heart of the organization's sustainability priorities, understand the existing internal practices for communication, and understand employees' primary interests and how best to engage them. This is a critical aspect leading into the design phase.
Design
In the design phase, we map out a motivational and inspirational program for your employees.
It begins with developing the steps for launching your sustainability plan to your organization. This could include deliverables ranging from developing a corporate brand for your sustainability efforts and establishing a green team structure, to drafting the communication materials and sourcing a relevant giveaway to all employees.
Following the organizational launch, we'll identify specific initiatives around which your employees can mobilize. For each initiative, a detailed tactical plan will be designed, including education, employee action, rewards, and communication components.
Implementation
During this implementation phase, we manage the roll-out of the employee engagement strategy in close collaboration with our client.
By supporting your existing internal resources and green team, or supplementing resources, our team will lead turn-key delivery, measurement and reporting.
