The tenth annual Mow Down Pollution will take place in all Home Depot stores across Canada from Thursday April 22nd until Sunday May 2nd, 2010. Visit www.mowdownpollution.ca for details.

Did you know that an older gas-powered lawn mower run for 1 hour puts out about the same amount of smog-forming emissions as 40 new cars run for an hour? Mow Down Pollution is Canada’s only gas lawn equipment exchange program, offering instant rebates to purchase zero- or low-emission alternatives.

Since the program launched in 2001:

  • A total of 34,027 inefficient mowers and trimmers have been responsibly recycled
  • More than 1,100 tonnes of greenhouse gas and smog forming emissions have been prevented

Program Participants can take advantage of free recycling services and are also given the option to purchase environmentally preferable alternatives at a significant discount.

Our Retail Partner, The Home Depot Canada, has experienced the benefits of the Mow Down Pollution program that come from increased store traffic and higher uptake of environmentally preferable products.

Manufacturer Partners are able to promote their brand and their range of environmentally preferable products by providing participants with instant rebates and other incentives.

Mow Down Pollution would not be possible without the generous support and commitment of our RECYCLING PARTNERS across Canada. Each year, our automotive and metal recyclers donate their time to responsibly recycle the retired equipment and Summerhill Impact is proud to work with these committed members of Canadian recycling industry.
