In 2009, Summerhill Strategy was asked by the TD Bank Financial Group to conduct a research project with the goal of providing an overview of green financing opportunities in the residential and small commercial markets. Summerhill’s work consisted of the following:

• An overview of the programmatic and policy/regulatory landscape in Canada with respect to energy efficiency and renewable energy
• A consolidated list of utility and government rebates available to residential and small commercial customers
• A summary of large-scale and small-scale opportunities for various TD business areas
• A competitive analysis focused on the opportunities that other financial institutions are pursuing
• Recommendations on where TD should focus its green financing efforts
• A preliminary assessment of the risk profile for TD
