Ersilia Serafini
Chief Executive Officer
Ersilia is a recognized leader in public engagement and outreach and has been responsible for creating and managing some of the most innovative and effective social marketing programs on air quality and climate change in Canada. Ersilia is a pro-active, energetic, and entrepreneurial individual who has built her career on creating high-energy and solution focused public engagement campaigns.
Before becoming the CEO of Summerhill, Ersilia was Summerhill Impact's Executive Director. Under her direction, Summerhill Impact flourished, more than tripling in size and revenue while expanding to include several new, award-winning programs.
At the community level, Ersilia lends her expertise to several organizations including the Ontario Environmental Leaders Program and the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO). Ersilia also volunteers her time with the Foundation for Prader-Willi Research Canada and is a member of The Climate Project Canada.
Ersilia completed an Honours Bachelor of Science at the University of Toronto with a double major in Biology and Environmental Science and her greatest joy is spending time with her two daughters.
Ian Morton
Chairman
Ian is a recognized leader on environment issues; responsible for creating some of the most innovative and effective market based programs on energy and air quality in Canada. He was named by Strategy Magazine as one of seven marketing leaders to watch in 2006 and was appointed to an advisory panel of eminent Canadians to provide advice and assistance to the Government of Canada at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) conference in Indonesia. His work has been recognized with a number of individual and organizational awards including being named recently as a Clean16 category leader for Retail and Consumer Products in the inaugural 2011 Clean50 rankings in Canada. He is the past recipient of The Lung Association's Significant Contribution Award for his work in establishing the organizations environmental health program. Ian has been personally trained by former Vice President Al Gore on the Climate Project.
As a serial entrepreneur, Ian has established and operated over a dozen private and not-for-profit corporations including Summerhill, the Environmental Centre for New Canadians (ECENECA), Eco Generation Home Services, the Healthy Indoors Partnership and the Clean Air Foundation (now Summerhill Impact). These organizations have made a significant and positive outcome to social and environmental purpose in Canada.
Ian is married, lives in Toronto and volunteers for a number of charitable organizations including acting as Chairman of Pollution Probe and General Manager/Coach of the Toronto Penguins Atom "A" hockey team. He is an avid hockey player, music enthusiast and active father with his two boys: Jackson and Charlie.
Julia Dalla Rosa
Senior Director, Business Development
Julia has over five years of experience in electricity conservation and transportation demand management fields working with businesses, retailers, utilities, institutions and communities to design, implement and evaluate multiple award-winning campaigns. These include Toronto Hydro's Take a Load Off Toronto clothesline campaign, and SaskPower's Exchange for the Better seasonal LED and halogen floor lamp exchange campaign. Julia has completed an eight month secondment to Toronto Hydro, working in-house on their residential conservation demand management portfolio of programs. At Summerhill, Julia has overseen many of our large utility client accounts including SaskPower, Ontario Power Authority and Toronto Hydro, as well as overseen Retail Council of Canada and contributed to multiple retail accounts.
Julia holds a Masters of Environmental Studies in pro-environmental behaviour change. She is a 2011/2012 representative on the EDA commercial member steering committee
Alma Obeid
Senior Director, Marketing
Alma joined Summerhill in 2010 bringing over 10 years of marketing and merchandising experience in the consumer packaged goods and retail industries. Prior to joining Summerhill, Alma earned a position in The Home Depot Canada's Business Leadership Program where she was exposed to all of the varying departments within a corporate retail environment, and moved on to become the Sr. Manager of Merchandising Strategy, where she was instrumental in developing a merchandising approach that formed the basis for merchandise planning, execution and category management. In her role as Marketing Director, Alma has responsibility for leading the development and implementation of the brand and marketing strategy, including all marketing communications, web design, social media, and market research.
Alma has an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University, and is an acknowledged author and presenter of marketing content and has educated, informed, and trained large groups of leaders and associates. Alma strives to live a balanced life through exercise, dancing and travelling with her family and friends.
Suzanne Karajaberlian
Senior Director, Operations
Suzanne joined the Summerhill team in pursuit of her desire to join a mission driven organization that values life, people and the planet. Prior to joining the Summerhill team, Suzanne resided in the United States where she led various research, development and engineering projects at Corning Incorporated. Utilizing her expertise in project management and process optimization, Suzanne was able to deliver one of the most successful projects in the display business that enabled the delivery of green glass.
After managing multiple utility projects at Summerhill and utilizing her six sigma expertise, Suzanne supported the establishment and led the project management office at Summerhill to ensure superb delivery on projects. Currently she leads Summerhill's operations where she aims to continually implement process improvement to meet the organization's mission and goals.
Suzanne holds a masters degree in Environmental Geochemistry and has been granted two patents through her innovative work with Corning Incorporated. In her spare time she enjoys looking at the world through a camera lens.
